Can someone help me figure out what’s wrong with my oven?
I have an Amana gas oven/range, model ARG7300W, mfg P1143320N W. The range part works great, but the oven is having problems maintaining temperature. It heats up part-way, then maintains a lower temperature than what I’ve set it to. For example, I set it to 375 degrees and it goes to maybe 225. I think the problem is with the thermostat, but I don’t know Appliances well enough to be sure.
When the temperature is that far off you need to replace the thermostat. There however could be another reason for this problem. Turn the oven on and leave the door open and listen for when the burner ignites. It should light within 30-60 seconds. If it is taking longer than 60 seconds your ignitor is at fault and should be changed. If it lights within the 30-60 seconds your thermostat is at fault. The part number for the thermostat is 0316507. The part number for the ignitor is 31940001.
Does anyone know how you can change the color of your oven/stove to stainless?

the knob that sets the temp, has an adjustment on the back, pull the knob off and look to see if it is out of adjusment.

You are most likely correct about the thermostat being the problem. You can check behind the large knob on the oven control valve for an adjustment screw, but the odds of being able to adjust 150 degrees is pretty slim.
Unfortunately, the thermostat is usually attached permanently to the back of the oven control vavle and can’t be replaced separately. It can get pretty expensive. Best check prices of part and installation of several repair facilities in your area and then you can decide whether it’s worth repairing or if you might want to consider a new unit.

Does your food cooks as you expect it to at the temperature you use? If it does then it is your thermostat that’s the problem. But if not, then it could be your heating element or the switch that sends the power for the element to heat up. Once you pinpoint the problem, you can go to appliance parts.com and order the parts. Specially ovens, they are easiest to fix. One best tool you need though – patience. good luck!

i don’t think it is the thermostat per say. the thermostat has a sensor on the end.that sensor is located in the oven. probably near one of the upper corners. it’s not quit as big around as a pencil usually and varies in length. it’s usually a few inches long. it’s my guess that it is dirty. find it and take a damp scratcher or scouring pad and carefully clean it off. once you have it clean wipe it dry. make sure the oven is off and cold first.

Sounds like the thermostat. On your oven, you have a "Oven thermostat assembly" which consists of the dial that the oven temperature knob is attached to and the thermostat bulb that runs to inside your oven. Its relatively easy to replace. One important point is that the bulb is attached to the dial with a very thin tube that some people think is a wire. It will come out of the box coiled up and it is extremely important not to kink the tube as you uncoil it.
Other than that its just a couple of screws and pay attention on how that tube is routed though your stove as you pull the old one out.
The part should cost you about $110. Just call your local appliance repair shop or you can find it online at "www.repairclinic.com " their part # for the assembly for your stove is "1081"

you could be right, the only way to know for sure is having an acurate temp gauge and check when the burner kicks on and off .
if you are certain that its maintaining 225deg when set at 375deg. that would be my first guess.
