I have a Monogram refrigerator that is not keeping cool?
The repairman said it would cost about 1k to replace the compressor. And he also said that he can’t guarantee the job because I am the 2nd owner of this piece of junk.
What shall I do? Junk it? To replace it would cost about 5k. It’s one of those ceiling high counter depth Euro style.
    It’s out of warranty.

ok ……first things first., find out what the compressor’s retail value is and use that to your advantage. second, call a reputable servicer, not the budget guy that wants to get in your wallet. Ask your "new" service provider if they have ever worked on one of these "built-in’s" before. Don’t stop calling servicers until you find one. Call the dealer/dealers that sell this model and ask them who they recommend for service. GET AGGRESSIVE. It is your money. never give up.

Hi Did you go through GE service ? check how old the unit is , Some Monograms have a 10 yr warrentee on the compressor. All you would pay is service which would be under 200.00. It depends where u live. I dont think it would cost but 450.00 to 550.00 even if you have to pay for the compressor and refrigerant. Let me know about how old it is? Thank you. http://appliancequickfix.com/ can easily explain how to check your fridge yourself to see if the repairman is telling you the straight scoop. I dont see what being the second owner has to do with it. There are many things that can keep a fridge from cooling correctly.
