There are whole web sites dedicated to the poor value and service offered by this company. They only pay off if you are going to do lots of buying. It costs thousands just to join. And they give you BIG pressure to sign up on your "tour". They say if you don't join you will not be able to change your mind and come back and join the following week. That's just coercive business as far as I'm concerned.

It's a gimmick. Any resourceful person with a little tenacity can find and negotiate purchases with better savings than Direct Buy. I had a close co-worker join and was literally embarassed to tell me the cost he paid to join. To this day he still won't tell. You can figure it out and judging by the question you posed, I think you've figured it out.
