The picture will freeze and break up, but only when I turn on things like AC, microwave or washing machine.

Older house? Sounds like your TV suffers from the momentary electric surge created amp-heavy devices first start up. Such a current surge causes a momentary drop in voltage to other devices such as your TV. If that’s the case, you’ll notice the same thing with your room lights dimming momentarily at the same time.
