Any propane company workers or dryer repairmen out there? We purchased a new frigidaire gas dryer and when it?

was hooked up and tested, the flame in the burner wasn’t right (yes, it was converted to propane for us), the flame was too large, whistling, orange and fluctuating from large to small. And there was also a horrible burnt metal odor and smoke coming out of the unit. Something definitely wrong. The smell was so bad, even with the dryer off, we insisted the store replace it instead of trying to fix it. Well, the second dryer did the same thing, only no smoke and just a slight odor, but the flame in the burner was still not right and doing what the first one did. And yes , it was converted properly, this time they did right in front of us. The blamed it on our gas line, so we had the propane company come out and the checked both the pressure coming into the house and the pressure into dryer and it was fine. Our other gas Appliances are fine. They checked my stove too and the that burner and flame looked perfect. Were both dryer lemons or is there something wrong with our gas or gas line?
Also, I don’t know if this is related, but our old 12 year old kitchenaid dryer (that we are attempting to replace) had a lot of what looked like rusty ash under the dryer when we moved it out and there was a pile of the rusty ash in the burner/firebox also. I know that ashy substance wasn’t there a couple years ago when we moved it. That dryer just quit heating suddenly and when a simple thermal fuse didn’t fix it we decided to buy a new one. So I am wondering if could be the gas or gas line and it screwed up my old dryer? I don’t know. I need help though before we purchase another dryer!
To comment on first answer below, I do believe it was converted properly to propane (changed the orfice, there was no spring to change ), they had a technician from a local appliance repair place do it, I saw the package and it was the conversion kit from the manufacturer. In fact they left the packaging from the kit here, including directions, so I read over everything and it seems to be in order.

get teck support from the factory. jet must be wrong size they are marked to tell size. new car smell on start up maybe. ash is burnt lint particles and moisture in gas exhaust makes some rust deposits.

sounds like they put the wrong orfice in it…it needs to be changed if they didnt do this…on some gas valves you change the orfice on others there is a different spring goes in the pressure adjuster on the appliance gas valve…maybe the people from the store dont know the difference…get a professional appliance man to come check it….
