Water valve problem w/ refrigerator? Leaking water dispenser and ice maker!?

Frigidaire side by side FRS26RLECSC. For past 2 weeks (right before Christmas, of course) water has been spewing out of dispenser whenever the icemaker is being filled. Also, when getting water out of dispenser, water overflows from the icemaker into the ice cube bin – this then freezes, causing a solid block of ice in the bin. We have placed a cup under the dispenser to catch the spew (ice is still being made), and we shut off the icemaker when we leave the house, so there is no spewing while we’re out.
Have seen a couple of appliance blogs that point to water intake valve as likely culprit.
Anybody with a similar problem or experience in this area? If this is indeed the problem, I’d like to order the part myself, but I don’t want to waste time and money if we’ll just need to bring in a repairman anyway.
Thanks!

better to call a good repair man.

We had the same problem and ended up having to replace some parts. Do a google search of your problem, there are sites that will narrow down your problem based on model, etc. A lot of those repairs can be done yourself with a little instruction.

It is also possible that your water level needs adjustment. I had this problem and I fixed it . You will have to look for an appliance site that has an ice maker similar to yours. There should be a screw somewhere that you turn (just a little bit) to adjust the level of the water in the tray. It may be hidden under a faceplate.
